Call for Proposals: Exterior Wall Repair and Priming at U'mista Cultural Centre

U'mista Cultural Society is seeking proposals from certified contractors for exterior wall repair and priming of our Gukw Ux̱wsiga'la's (House Front) . This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a landmark cultural project in 'Ya̱lis (Alert Bay).

About the Project

The front exterior wall of the U'mista Cultural Centre requires repair and priming before artists can begin painting directly on the surface. The completed wall must be smooth, structurally sound, and ready to receive mural-grade paint.

Scope of Work

Contractors will be expected to:

• Repair cracks, holes, and damaged surface areas, including removal of any sections affected by rot
• Remove loose or peeling paint
• Patch and smooth the surface for even paint adhesion
• Prime the entire wall with a high-quality exterior primer suitable for mural paint
• Complete cleanup of the work area upon completion

Location: U'mista Cultural Centre, #1 Front Street, Alert Bay ('Ya̱lis), BC
On-site work begins: June 17, 2026
Project timeline: July 16 to September 15, 2026
Proposal deadline: July 15, 2026 at 5:00pm

What to Include in Your Proposal

• Total price (labour and materials)
• Estimated timeline (start date and duration)
• Proof of insurance and any relevant licences
• List of materials and products you plan to use, particularly primer brand and type
• Two to three references or photos of similar past work
• Payment terms (deposit, milestones, etc.)

Selection Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated on price, relevant experience (particularly exterior repair and priming for murals or artwork preparation), ability to meet the project timeline, quality of references and portfolio, appropriateness of materials proposed, and professionalism of the bid.
