The Eagle in the Kwakwaka'wakw Mythology

Among the Village Island people, the Mamalilikala, the eagle position belonged to the highest-ranking chief of the village. And Franz Boas explains that he is the chief of the birds with Woodpecker. Eagle's down was used during the Tla'sala and symbolized peace. The eagle's undersea Kingdom counterpart lives in the realm of Kumugwe and is depicted with a green beak and on its body. The sea eagle is the caller and calls out all the other dancers.
