A Limited Edition Print by Andy Everson
Proudly displaying their new little babies, a pair of mallard ducks propell themselves forward through the water. The eldest duckling squawks, telling his younger siblings to hurry up and reinforcing the idea that—at least in his mind—he is the boss. Towards the back of this little cavalcade, one of the ducklings looks back to see her youngest sibling frantically trying to catch up to the group. Witnessing a procession such as this is one of the happier moments that marks the arrival of a warmer season.
“Procession” brings back many of my earliest childhood memories. I think about a time when we, as kids, were a lot more innocent. My parents would parade us through the mall or to a potlatch with our hair slicked back and we would follow along obediently. My oldest brother would bark orders and one of my sisters would look back and wait for me to catch up. Although many things have changed, we still plod along through the water as a family. I dedicate this print to my siblings: Rob, Nicole, Rick and Charlene and to my “big sisters,” Maryann and Marilyn.
“Procession” is a limited edition print using the giclée method of printmaking. Print production took place during May of 2003 at the artist’s own studio in Comox B.C.
