I am enchanted by the Pacific harbour seals so common in the Salish Sea. While they feed, date, and mate underwater, females give birth on land. Seals are affectionate mothers who immediately memorize the scent and sound of their own pup as a rookery can grow large and noisy. This acrylic painting is based on a photograph by conservationist Cheryl Alexander.
