Aubrey Johnston Jr.

Aubrey Brian Johnston is descended from the Haida, ’Namgis and Ma’amtagila Nations. Born in Alert Bay, British Columbia, he is a descendant of the Alfred, Wadhams, Wallace, and Simeon Families and can trace his ancestry to the Haida through his paternal great-grandmother.

His artistic abilities have been refined through working with his father Aubrey Johnston Sr., Beau Dick, Wayne Alfred and Morris Johnny. Aubrey works full time at his art in a variety of mediums but is exceptionally skilled at working in wood.

Aubrey has been carving since 2009 and has participated in carving the Guardian Poles for U’mista as well as several of the Awak’wis for the ’Namgis First Nation.
