T̕łat̕łała’wis (Brian Hunt) was born in Victoria, BC in 1984. He is from the Kwagu’ł Tribe of Tsaxis “Fort Rupert” of the Kwakwakwak of Northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
His father is Tony Hunt Jr. Brian comes from a long line of carvers such as his grandfather the world renowned Chief Mup̓ankam T̕łakwadzi Nakap̓ankam, Tony Hunt Sr. who was taught by his grandfather Chief Nakap̓ankam, Mungo Martin.
His history of the Nelson family is from the Musgamakw Dzawada’enuxw “Four Tribes of Kingcome Inlet” and the Ebbets family Tłingit from Southern Tongass Island in Alaska.
Brian has been carving since 2005 and is presently apprenticing with Master Carver Beau Dick in Alert Bay BC.
