Chris Cook III

Chris descends from the Thunderbird Clan of the Namgis tribe (in Alert Bay) of the Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) Nation. He grew up surrounded by traditional culture and is a Potlatch Chief in his traditional big house. He studied metalworking in high school and silversmithing at Camosun College while working on his undergrad from the University of Victoria. He has been expanding his metal working skills by travelling to New York and Tuscany, Italy to study with world renown Bulgarian Silversmith Valentin Yotkov. Chis Cook lives and works in Alert Bay, BC, Canada.

Chris Cook jr was was born in Alert Bay BC. and grew up there until he reached the age of 18. Chris was an avid sketch artist in his youth, and in 1998 he completed an undergraduate in History at the University of Victoria. He took a beginners silversmithing course at Camosun College which helped lead him into jewelry making. His initial encouragement came from Fran Dick and was further influenced by Tahltan artist Terrence Campbell and Kwaguilth artist Harold Alfred.
