1:1 refers to two moieties, or halves, in Tlingit culture. Each clan belongs to either the Raven or Eagle moiety. Tradition holds that Ravens should marry Eagles and that in times of mourning for one moiety, the other uplifts and provides support. These are examples of how Ravens and Eagles have held balance since time immemorial, how they continue to, and how they will in future generations.
The Ravens and Eagles depicted on this basketball represent harmony and survival of cultural values.

The women's basketball design reflects the relationship the water and moon share. The blue color tones are inspired by Mendenhall glacial caves in Juneau, Alaska. One panel there is the crescent moon and two stars. The other panels have sea life and animals. Water is life.

The new Sitka Kooch'éit'aa size 7 basketball was designed to match the basketball court that Crystal Worl designed in collaboration with Project Backboard https://projectbackboard.org/work. Under wet weather conditions that required building a cover, Crystal Worl and Project Backboard renovated the basketball court at the Crescent Harbor Park in Sitka, Alaska in August of 2022. The debut of the Sitka makes this Trickster’s fifth basketball available online.
